CORONAVIRUS UPDATE March 23rd 2020 – full school closure
Dear Parents and Carers
You are, no doubt, aware of the announcement made this evening about staying in your homes. As a school, many of our staff travel long distances, drop their children for child care and travel together. These are all identified as non essential and contravene the Governments ideas about social gatherings or staying at home.
This evening I have spoken to the Chair of Governors, to advise that the school will close as of 3.30 tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday March 24th 2020). I must ask you to heed the warnings made in Boris Johnson’s speech this evening.
I am giving you notice so that you can decide on your best course of action for tomorrow and beyond. This has not been an easy decision, but a necessary one. We are struggling with staff already; these new measures will impact even further and the school, under risk assessment, will not be safe.
We all know that these sweeping actions are all being used to keep everyone safe. Staff will be contacting parents tomorrow. We will also contact all services, such as the Disabilities Team, to let them know about the closure.
Please take care and stay safe.
Cherie White
Headteacher
